Leeds Rhinos interim boss Richard Agar feels St Helens are a cut above the rest after his side went down 36-20 to the frontrunners.
The League Leaders Shield winners, who will now prepare for the Challenge Cup final next week, were held to 10-10 at half-time against the Rhinos at Headingley on Thursday night.
But a strong second-half display from Justin Holbrook’s side saw them pull away and ultimately a hat-trick from Kevin Naiqama proved to be the difference between the teams.
With Leeds still having some work to do to avoid relegation this season, Agar claims he was pleased with his teams effort but they were just outplayed by what he feels is the best team in the Super League.
They are way and above the best team in the comp,
At the moment they’re playing at a different speed to everyone else. Some of their skills are great. Their back five are a real handful and a couple of big young kids in the middle ensure they don’t miss a beat.
For us, the biggest concern is the manner of our defence because I think we’ve shown over a number of weeks that we’ve got a bit more in us than that.
I thought we caused them some problems in the first half but the second half was as disappointing a period as I’ve experienced with this team. It was poor and it lets us know where we’re at.
