Leeds Rhinos boss Dave Furner was full of praise for youngster Cameron Smith after he stood in at stand off on Sunday.
The Rhinos continued their pre-season games with a 60-0 thrashing off Featherstone on Sunday and Smith, who is normally a back rower, was pushed into action at stand off.
Leeds fielded a team largely made up of fringe first team players and he was pleased with them all but had special praise for Smith who went over for a try and kicked eight goals from 11 attempts.
“He was very good,” Furner told the Yorkshire Post.
“Cam is what I’d describe as a natural footballer.
“He showed his confidence out there in his own ability and when Brad [Singleton] came off he ended up steering the team as captain.“I thought he had some really good touches there, in particular with the young kids around him.”
